Join me for this wonderful tour of the Reitz Ranch Studio and Ceramic Art Center located in Clarkdale, Arizona (not Cottonwood which is the next town over) founded by the legendary potter Don Reitz. The center is now owned and operated by Sheryl Leigh-Davault and Ted Davault. Don bought this property after he retired from teaching at the UW-Madison and began renovation and building his studio and what would become Reitz Ranch! Lots of great ideas for the home potter’s studio, hand building work tables, work boards, glaze bucket storage, dry material storage and their kiln room set up for work flow! I loved seeing the resident artist’s work in process and all of the centers atmospheric kilns! So much pottery history in one place and many great pots were made here! I highly recommend if you are ever in the area to stop by or better yet sign up for one of their workshops. They also offer community classes, memberships and residencies.
